Our story
Mixed Bag Sportsman started as a digital outdoors magazine — in-depth hunting and fishing content written by genuine outdoorsmen, avid anglers, hunters, and top-level guides and captains. Decades of relationships with experts on the water and in the field gave us something rare: a direct line to the people who actually run the trips.
That network is exactly why the last-minute deals side of the business works. Up and down the California coast, captains regularly have a few unsold seats on an upcoming trip. Rather than sail with empty rails, they'll drop the price to fill the boat. The problem has always been getting that deal in front of the right anglers fast enough. That's the gap Mixed Bag fills.
Today we do two things: we surface vetted, discounted open seats so you can get on the water for less, and we keep publishing the magazine that started it all.
